Behavioral Trigger

A behavioral trigger is an automated action initiated when a customer performs (or fails to perform) a specific behavior. Triggers are the foundation of modern marketing automation.

How Behavioral Triggers Work

You define a condition (the trigger) and an action (the response). When the condition is met, the action executes automatically. For example: "When a member hasn't checked in for 14 days, send a personalized SMS."

Common Behavioral Triggers

  • Member misses their regular check-in schedule
  • Trial period is about to expire
  • Customer opens an email but doesn't click
  • Website visitor views pricing page 3+ times
  • Membership renewal date is approaching
  • Customer leaves a negative review
  • Birthday or anniversary is coming up

Why Triggers Outperform Batch Campaigns

Batch campaigns send the same message to everyone at the same time. Triggers send the right message to the right person at the exact right moment. This relevance translates to higher open rates, click rates, and conversion rates.
