Revenue per Member

Revenue per member (RPM) is the average revenue generated by each customer or member over a given period, including membership fees, add-on purchases, retail sales, and upsells.

How to Calculate RPM

RPM = Total Revenue ÷ Total Active Members

Why RPM Matters

Growing your business isn't just about getting more members. Increasing revenue per existing member is often more profitable. If you have 500 members and increase RPM by $20/month, that's $120,000 in additional annual revenue with zero acquisition cost.

How to Increase RPM

  • Upsell premium memberships and add-ons
  • Cross-sell complementary services and products
  • Implement tiered pricing with clear upgrade paths
  • Use personalized offers based on customer behavior
  • Reduce discounting and focus on value communication
